"An Ohio State University Medical Center project contracted by NASAused cadavers to create technology for the Orion shuttle, spaceagency officials say.
Dustin Gohmert, who designs seats for the National Aeronautics andSpace Administration, said three human bodies were used to developspecial suits and landing systems for the NASA spacecraft, theHouston Chronicle reported Saturday."

The first sentence of the UPI article makes it sound like deadpeople designed the technology for the Orion shuttle. A bunch ofstiffs could probably design a better model than the dangerouslyoutdated shuttle crafts currently being used by NASA.
There are benefits to using corpses, they are willing to work forless than the minimum wage, and they won't sue if they are injuredon the job.
"'The testing with postmortem human subjects and mannequins ishelping NASA to better define the human injury potential for thelanding (forces) that we anticipate with Orion,' Gohmert said oflast year's testing at the Ohio site."

Only a NASA bureaucrat would refer to a stinking cadaver as a"postmortem human subject". If a disaster kills a shuttle astronautwill NASA issue a press release that reads: We regret to inform youthat there was a minor explosion onboard the Discovery SpaceShuttle. Five of the astronauts survived the explosion without anyinjuries, however the accident did result in one postmortem humansubject.
