WORKING the 20m drop-offs round Long Reef has seen some wonderfulsnapper taken on both baits and soft plastic lures. I had an emailfrom Claude who informs me snapper and morwong are in very closebut need burley to get them in an eating mood.

Float baits down in a fishyberley trail and let line out at a slow rate till you find fish.Have a chrome slice lure at the ready and watch out for tailorschools which continually break the surface as they force bait upthen hoe into them when there's no escape.
At North and Middle Head in the Harbour, black drummer or 'pigs'are taking fresh, peeled green prawn. Steve Bowler supplementstheir diet with a constant stream of mushy bread berley and has hadresults on bream, morwong, blackfish and leatherjackets.
All this brouhaha about should the lake be called a lake or alagoon? Who really cares? Another one of those political storms ina tea cup.
Narrabeen is one of the jewels in the peninsula's crown and a sightthat's a joy to behold. It amazes me what a great fishery Narrabeenis considering all the urban pressure and run-off it receives. Asproof, there's been constant reports of big bream being taken nearthe Ocean Street Bridge on tube worms. One angler took four fish onvery light gear one evening last week.
Now we have a lifting of water restrictions, it will be interestingto see if Pittwater Council honours its promise of restoring thewash-down facilities at Bayview boat ramp. Don't hold your breath!
A date to put in the diary is the Sydney Boat Show at DarlingHarbour, from July 31 to August 5. Boat dealers are doing it hardand there will be some great bargains.
When drifting the bottom for flathead, instead of having onesliding sinker, use two smaller ones. The clinking together of thetwo as they drag across the floor is a turn on for thesepredatorial fish.
