Belleville Shoe gets $2.6 million contract from the Army
BELLEVILLE -- The Defense Logistics Agency awarded a contract ofabout $2.6 million to Belleville Shoe Manufacturing Co. onWednesday.
The contract is for "Army hot weather combat boots to wear in thedesert," according to Eric R. Weidmann, president of BellevilleShoe Manufacturing Co.
Weidmann said the deal is a "routine contract"
"It won't add any new jobs. It's just part of daily business,"Weidmann said.
The contract was announced by U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello in apress release.
"Belleville Shoe Manufacturing Co. continues to play a criticalrole in equipping our troops," Costello said. "This is importantwork that supports our troops while also supporting the local andregional economies."
