FIRE OF UNDETERMINED origin hit a university in Manila and afactory and karaoke bar in Quezon City in separate incidents onSaturday, destroying an estimated P4 million in property.
In Manila, fire hit the stockroom of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ngMaynila at 11 a.m., said Senior Supt. Pablito Cordeta, city firemarshal.
No one was reported injured in the blaze, which reached the fifthalarm, after students were told to leave the campus, Cordeta said.Damage to property was placed at P500,000. Fire officials said theywere eyeing an electrical problem as the cause.
In Quezon City, more than P3.5 million worth of property was razedin the fires that hit a rubber slipper factory and a karaoke bar.
Arson investigator FO3 Rosendo Cabillan said fire broke out on theroof of the two-story factory owned by Roy Garciano on AsuzenaStreet, Barangay Roxas District, at 4 a.m.
The fire spread quickly and gutted two adjacent houses, reachingthe third alarm before being put out at 8:05 a.m., Cabillan said.Damage was placed at P2 million.
At 9:40 a.m., fire struck the Top of Gold karaoke bar on ScoutTobias St. in Barangay Scout Triangle.
SFO1 Jose Felipe Areza, case investigator, said bar employees sawsmoke coming from the ladies room before flames engulfed theestablishment.
Areza said probers were looking at faulty wiring as the probablecause of the blaze which caused more than P1.5 million worth ofdamage.
No one was reported injured in both incidents.
