Should you wear stockings with open-toe shoes?

From the time I was able to put on my own shoes, I was told Ishould never wear shoes without socks or stockings. Like anyfashion rule, there is a time it can be broken.
The attraction of open toed shoes is to show off a glimpse of wellpedicured toenail and a stocking would only hinder the view.Wearing a shoe without a stocking? GASP, my grandmother would say.But today, even fashionista Stacey London can be spotted with baretoes peeking from her Ferragamos.
Personally, though I'm usually shoving my feet into my Land's Endloafers, I really don't like the feel of a shoe directly against myfoot. And somehow, without a stocking, I feel slightly undressed.I've also had it with nursing blisters and tenderness caused by myshoes rubbing in places usually protected by knee-hi's orpantyhose.
Fortunately, there is a product that satisfies both theold-fashioned like me, and the New Agers like Ms London: Toelesspantyhose. This hose has a thong-like strip around the big toe tohold it in place to allow your toes to peep out prettily from yourmost open toed footwear and covers the rest of your leg like anormal pair of hose. These open toed hose can be found here:http://www.yub.com/products/?productID=6015398
If you want to forego the hose but don't want to spend the next dayplastering bandages on your raw tootsies, try putting babypowder onyour feet before slipping them into the shoes to cut down on theblister-causing friction. Or, wear a heavier pair of knee-hi's tobreak in that new pair of shoes around the house and soften theuppers a bit so they don't rub when you're not wearing nuthin'underneath them.
Try one of these solutions and see how nice those open toed shoeslook on your feet with nothing between your toes and the outsideworld except nail polish. It's perfectly acceptable.
