Police seek help to nab 4 suspects in 2 holdups

B oston police appealed to the public yesterday for help inidentifying four masked men, three of whom held up two stores atgunpoint in as many days.
The first robbery occurred shortly before 2:30 p.m. June 18 at theRiver Street Mini-Mart at 991 River St. in Hyde Park, police said.
The victims told police four masked black men in black shirtsentered the store, two of them brandishing silver handguns.
One - described as stocky and about 5-foot-9 - pointed a gun at onevictim and forced him to lie down by the front door, police said.The other three suspects - a thin man about 5-foot-7, anotherstocky man about 5-foot-9 and a stocky man about 6-foot-3 -threatened a second victim with a handgun and removed more than$3,000 from the register, police said.
At about 9 p.m. the next day, three of the apparently same men -one brandishing a silver handgun - held up J.P. Variety ConvenienceStore at 162 South St., police said. One came through the back doorand two entered through the front door. The victim told police hewas ordered to get on the ground, and about $2,000 was taken fromthe cash register, the lottery register and a small safe.
