Two companies found to have sold children's nightwear that breachedsafety standards have agreed to undertake a range of measures toprevent further violations.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) said ithad accepted undertakings from Lincraft and Cotton Dreams to takesteps to prevent further breaches of safety standards contained inthe Trade Practices Act.
The ACCC said Lincraft had sold bath robes imported by CottonDreams that failed to comply with the mandatory safety standardsfor children's nightwear.
The bath robes failed to meet fire hazard safety standards, and assuch, should not have been sold, the ACCC said.
The garments also failed to meet certain requisite labellingrequirements.
The ACCC said that both companies had taken action as soon as theywere approached, including announcing a recall of the products.
Both companies agreed to also undertake a range of measures toprevent further breaches of safety standards, including refrainingfrom selling any children's nightwear that was not compliant.
Cotton Dreams also has agreed to implement a trade practices lawcompliance program, while Lincraft will conduct a review of itsexisting compliance program and upgrade it accordingly.
