Woburn (AP) -- The defense in the Neil Entwistle double murder trial scoredsome points Friday during testimony about Entwistle's car.
Forensics specialist John Soares, a civilian investigator who worksfor the State Police, described the contents of the Entwistles'white BMW X3, found in a garage at Logan. They included a babyseat, a Dasani water bottle, a Dunkin' Donuts cup, and the carkeys.
Soares faced intense cross examination by defense attorney ElliotWeinstein, acknowledging he and other investigators did not usechemical or light-based methods to test for blood at or around thecrime scene that wasn't visible to the naked eye.
Weinstein suggested crime scene investigators weren't as thoroughas they could have been. Soares also testified the car keys weretested for gunshot residue, as were Rachel Entwistle's hands andLillian Entwistle's pajamas.
Jurors were also asked to look at photos from the crime scene. The7 photos showed the bed and bedding in which Rachel and LillianEntwistle were found shot to death, and the bodies themselves. Asthe jurors looked at the photos, which were not shown on courtroommonitors, members of Rachel Entwistle's family huddled together. The photos were shown a day after Neil Entwistle broke down as he,his defense team and the jury watched video of the crime scene.
eBay fraud investigator Jeremy Roybal was the next witness to takethe stand. He testified there were 4 different PayPal accountsunder Neil Entwistle's name, and 1 under Rachel Entwistle's name.Paypal is an internet money transmission service, often used bybuyers and seller on eBay.
Prosecutors allege Entwistle killed his wife and child in January2006 because he was deep in debt and dissatisfied with his sexlife. He was arrested three weeks later in London.
Entwistle, 29, told state police he discovered the bodies afterreturning home from running errands the morning of Jan. 20, 2006.He said he returned to England the next day -- without callingpolice -- because he wanted to be consoled by his parents, who livein Worksop, England.
