Same-store sales decline at American Eagle Outfitters

American Eagle Outfitters Inc. said Thursday that same-store sales fell 9 percent in May from ayear ago.
The retailer (NYSE:AEO), based on Pittsburgh's South Side, said Maysales were in line with its projections. Analysts, on average, hadexpected May same-store sales to fall 4.8 percent.
The company did not disclose a reason for the sales slump.
Same-store sales are sales from stores open at least a year, acommonly used measure of retail success.
Total sales for the company rose to $200 million in May from $199.2million a year ago.
American Eagle maintained its second-quarter earnings guidance of28 to 30 cents per share. Analysts, on average, project earnings of29 cents per share.
