Student designers will showcase their hard work and creativity at their annual spring fashion show this Saturday.
"This is my first piece and I look forward to influencing the fashion here at Purdue," said Steve Sweat, a freshman in the College of Consumer and Family Sciences.
Sweat has dedicated roughly 60 hours of labor toward his piece. Sweat's piece consists of a light blue button-up shirt, a dark blue paisley tie and black dress pants.
Aja Aktay, a senior in the College of Consumer and Family Sciences, has been working on her pieces since last year's show. Aktay's collection was inspired by the '70s and includes African print influences. An African drummer will play during her collection's appearance.
"I want my clothes to make women feel inspired, beautiful and confident," Aktay said.
The sewing lab in Matthews Hall is busy this week, packed with student designers fitting their models and putting finishing touches on their garments. According to the designers in the lab, the senior class is extremely proud of its collections and is anticipating that this year's show will top shows in the past.
"We are the most creative class," said Ashley Spencer, senior in the College of Consumer and Family Sciences, who got her inspiration from Disney princesses. "We always try something new every year."
