The GWAGs are, however, totally different to the Premiershipfootball WAGs who are glitzy, brash and loud with a penchant forshort sequinned miniskirts and oversized designer sunglasses.
In contrast, the golfing gals are low key and discreet. They willshun the vivid shades that catch the attention of the paparazzi.
The revered Irish designer, fresh from his success at LondonFashion Week, said: "These are incredibly modest ladies and not abit like the football wives set.
"In fact they are completely different -- laid back and discreetand elegant.
"They are the European wives and therefore a whole lot trendierthan their American counterparts, who will be a bit louder and morevisible."
Pointing out that they are not conservative uniforms, he explained:"The ensembles that I have designed are modern and less formal."
This time they will be less formal than the blue jackets andtrousers that were worn at the K Club a few years ago. There willbe lots of choices to ring the changes with most of the dozen ormore women opting for 30 or more complementary pieces.
"The uniforms had to suit the temperature and weather expected inLouisville," Mr Costelloe said.
Shades
"I have designed a couple of shirts, four or five differenttrousers, shorter Capri pants, narrow leg trousers and threelighter-weight jackets. The shades are low key and come in cream, cappuccino, taupe and mid-brown. The underpinning -- like undergarments such as vests and body tops -- are in pale shades likepale yellow and soft powder blues."
So what about miniskirts and hotpants? Can we expect to see anyflash of leg out on the golf course?
"No, they specifically did not want shorts."
At a tournament of this nature it is not advisable to attract toomuch attention away from the course as this may detract from thefocus on the golfers themselves, who will be wearing their usualhorde of hideous tank tops, garish tartan trousers and patenttwo-tone shoes.
It is going to be warm and humid so these cool cotton separateswill ring the changes so the GWAGs won't be wringing out theperspiration as they melt in the spectator seats.
"I did most of the tailoring in cotton and there is some lycra inthe trousers for a better fit. There is also cool linen and silk,"Mr Costelloe said.
The overall look is a distinctive wardrobe with a homogenous imagein an easy to combine range.
