Cost of living in the U.S.A. By Jim Hellem / Signals contributor
Gas at $4 a gallon! Diesel at $4.75 a gallon! Food, clothing, travel and transportation, "all" going up!!
What does it mean to us here in Tansi?
1) Our cost of living is accelerating!
2) Our budgets are being surpassed!
3) Income vs. expenses is moving in a negative direction!
4) Our lifestyle will be impacted!
What does it mean to the Tansi POA?
1) Fuel costs impact maintenance!
2) Fuel costs impact security!
3) Fuel costs impact everything from food to fertilizer!
4) Cabin rentals and outside golf play will be impacted by fewervacationers1
5) Federal mandate “minimum wage” increases for ouremployees! '07 and '08
(Cost the POA $10,000 per year compounded with no additional POAbenefit)
How can the POA cope with this problem??
We need your help! Would $.15 per day be too much to ask? ($.15 X 7days = $1.05 per week X 52 weeks = $54.60 a year)
As most of you know we have a lot on our plate to digest over thenext 12 to 18 months!
1) New cabins - Completed in the next month!
2) New sewer/membrane system - In progress!
3) New indoor pool and Thunderbird renovation — on hold!
4) Revised “golf” program to be more golf membercompatible — Under discussion!
5) Reserve study funding — ongoing!
6) 19th Hole Restaurant management and profitability — Underdiscussion!
7) Ongoing battle to retain control of the water in our lakes!
8) Miscellaneous maintenance concerns — Ongoing!
We on your board are always looking to make cuts where we canwithout reducing our quality standards.
We told you early this year there would be “noassessments”!! So we will not ask each of you to part with$500 or $600 out of your already cash-strapped bank account. But wehad no way of knowing that oil and gas would“skyrocket” in 2008. So please keep in mind we willneed a dues increase this year to keep our beautiful area green andgrowing. We’re hoping a $.10 to $.15 a day would not be toomuch to ask.
Thank you for your valued input and consideration in this mostimportant matter.
Sincerely,
