BETHEL - Olympia SnowWoman, the world's tallest snow woman, isalmost completely melted, but her Maine mica pendant, created byJim Mann and his crew, now hangs in the office of the Bethel AreaChamber of Commerce, 8 Station Place, behind the movie theater.

Mann and Ryan Wheeler, with a little help from chamber staff and avisitor, hoisted the huge, heavy pendant up to a large hook in abeam at ceiling height. It was a major operation to do it withoutthe crane that was used for the snow woman.

The pendant contains 20 pounds of steel for the frame, 60 pounds ofplywood for the base, measures 7.5 feet in diameter, has 80 poundsof mica refined down to 20 pounds to create the mosaic and has 800+pieces of mica adhered with exterior caulk.

It took 100 hours to construct and the center "gem" is made offaceted glass and weighs 700 carats.

All are welcome to visit the Bethel Area Chamber office andinformation center to see the work of art "up close." The chamberis open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. World'stallest snow woman memorabilia is still available for purchase.
