Do not take unnecessary risks while water-skiing. Know yourlimitations. If you are new to skiing try each new skill one at atime. Become proficient and then move on to the next skill.
* The towline should be at least 75 feet long.
* Have an observer in the tow boat at all times. The boat drivercannot drive the boat and watch the skier at the same time.
* The driver should use a rear view mirror.
* Skiers should wear a Coast Guard approved personal flotationdevice designed for water-skiing. This also goes for the driver andobserver, too. If you are injured, staying afloat is important. While it is not -- as a rule -- a good idea, the driver and theobserver may need to get into the water to help a skier.
* Never ski in rough water.
* Stay clear of congested areas. A crowded beach is not a goodplace to ski.
* Do not ski at night. It's not smart and it's illegal.
* No alcohol for the skier, the driver or the observer. Save it forthe party later that day.
