Mainland willing to send fresh vegetables to typhoon-hit Taiwan

The mainland-based Taiwan Affairs Office under the State Council,or cabinet, said Tuesday that the mainland was willing to providefresh vegetables at any time for Taiwan's typhoon-hit areas.

Typhoon Kalmaegi ruined many crops in the island, affectingvegetable supplies and people's daily life, said a spokesman withthe office. He added that the mainland was very concerned aboutthis and was prepared to send vegetables wherever the island neededthem.

Kalmaegi made landfall near Ilan in northern Taiwan late onThursday, bringing heavy rain. It left 16 people dead and 11missing in the island.
