Thieves take honesty box contents

The owners of a roadside vegetable stall in Jersey say they will be keeping an eye out for thieves after an honesty box was broken into.

The Binet family's honesty box in St Saviour was broken into and £13 was taken on Tuesday. Thefts of produce and money got so bad at one location in the West of the island its owners installed security lights and CCTV.

But it is the first time it has happened to the Binets. Wendy Binet says their stall does well selling Jersey Royals at this time of the year and other seasonal produce. But it is the first time someone has stolen money from the quiet country lane and she says in future they will be more vigilant.
