Tomato contest at Lexington market

Lexington Farmer’s Market organizers want you to bring it to the market July 26. Anyone wanting to enter the biggest tomato contest should have their tomatoes and entry forms at the market by 9:45 a.m.

Judging will take place by weighing the tomatoes from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Participants may enter only one tomato.

Also, the farmers at the market will compete in a best-tasting tomato contest, and the public can compete in a tomato toss. Two-member teams will toss a tomato back and forth while backing farther and farther away from each other. The team that keeps the tomato tossing without bursting it and records the greatest distance between themselves is the winner.
