Garlic bread and garlic spread, sold by Stop & Shop and Giant supermarkets, are being recalled because they contain milk products that are not declared on their labels. Advertisement People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to dairy products run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products. No illnesses have been reported.

The Stop & Shop recall involves 16-ounce packages of garlic bread with UPC number 20540880000; 9-ounce packages of garlic bread with UPC number 20540900000; and 16-ounce packages of garlic spread with UPC number with UPC number 20549280000. Customers of Stop & Shop, which is based in Quincy, Mass., and has stores in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire, New York and New Jersey, can get more information at (800) 767-7772 or at www.stopandshop.com. The Giant recall involves 16-ounce packages of garlic bread with UPC number 21476670000 and 16-ounce packages of garlic spread with UPC number 20173310000.
