Leave fireworks alone, go after leaf blowers

What is it with the reactionary attitudes in our Valley? For oneday people want to celebrate the birth of our nation and the airgets a little extra particulate matter. Why don't they react the same way to leaf blowers operated bygardeners daily throughout the Valley? I believe they contributefar more particles to pollution than fireworks.

Why don't the city or the county mandate that all leaf blowers runon electricity and not blow, but vacuum up debris? Not only wouldthis reduce pollution from gasoline engines, but would also createa good neighbor policy, because debris would not be blown back andforth between properties.

This is a long-term, proactive solution instead of canceling Fourthof July celebrations. Next thing you know we will not be allowed totravel on holidays just because others can't and it adds to theparticulate matter index.
