The nutrition program for persons age 60 and over is funded by thecounty Office for the Aging, state and federal grants, andcontributions from participants. Meals are served Monday throughFriday at the Ava Dorfman Senior Citizens Civic Center and theSouth Rome Senior Citizens Center, both in Rome; United MethodistChurch, Vernon; United Methodist Church, Boonville, Noyes ManorApartments, Sherrill; and Town Hall in Forestport.
It is essential to the success of the program that those who canafford to contribute do so. However, no one can be turned awaybecause they do not contribute. Reservations must be made at leastone day in advance.
Each diner receives an envelope into which a suggested voluntarycontribution may be placed to pay for the $5 meal. A donation of $2is suggested.
The menu for the week of June 30 - July 4:
Monday — Hot dog with sauerkraut, mustard, whole kernel corn,baked beans, hot dog roll, cool mint pears.
Tuesday — Spanish rice, wax beans, sweet peas, white bread,fresh fruit.
Wednesday — Italian sausage with peppers and onions, ketchup,new potatoes, Italian beans, Italian bread, tapioca pudding withoranges.
Thursday — Chicken salad on lettuce, macaroni salad, fruitsalad, dinner roll, cookie.
Friday — CLOSED FOR 4TH OF JULY
Diet substitutes are available with some meals, upon request.
