Green schools plant seeds for a rosier future

April 1, 2008

I read the March 5 article "Schools teach conservation, recycling."

After reading this article I can't express how amazed and proud I am of the Salem-Keizer School District.

I think the Oregon Green Schools program is a great way to help teach students how to, and the importance of, recycling. It is a great stepping stone to help them become aware of our current environmental issues.

I am very happy this change has been made to teach this to children at a young age, and I would love for this practice to be expanded to all K-12 grade levels. I think this would be valuable, not only to students, but also our environment for years to come.

I hope this awareness continues to be part of the Salem-Keizer school curriculum.
