Russian produce market bit slower than last year

In week 27 the trade in Russian fruit market was rather quiet in Moscow and Saint-Petersburg and reasonable in Ural and Siberia. Generally it was much more quiet in comparison with last week. Hot weather all over the country was one of the factor of slow trade. Problems with expensive production from Southern Hemisphere led to delays with discharge of the vessels – just two citrus boats from Argentina with 6100 pallets were berthed before Friday as well as one – 5700 pallets – from South Africa. Chile – 5000 pallets with apples, kiwis and grapes and Argentina with 3300 pallets of apples and pears were waiting for their turn till weekend. Finally the structure of import became more reasonable as the oranges dominated in volumes both from Argentina and South Africa unlikely before when the majority consisted of lemons and grapefruits accordingly.

Oranges
Moroccan oranges were still available in large quantities not more expensive than 0,99 $/kg. Some Egyptian stuff eventuaaly appeared on the market being offered on 1,19 $/kg. Argentine Navels were sold on 1,13 $/kg. However the strongest demand was for the most expensive South African fruits – 1,25 $/kg. In general the market of oranges in week 27 was slightly more active than a week ago.

Lemons
Despite of decreasing of arriving quantities the market remained to be very low due to huge stocks available. Prices were different from 0,25 $/kg to 1,30 $/kg depending upon quality. The demand hasn’t increased but hasn’t completely died as well.

Mandarins
The situation remained the same as last week. Prices for qualitative fruits went up to 2,00 $/kg due to smaller availability. The traders didn’t look for any particular variety just estimating in “sound/wasted” scale.
